3D printing is all the rage right now, with more artists, designers, and hobbyists flocking to the technology every day.

But for those who've still yet to get their feet wet, the prospect of getting into 3D printing can be a little daunting considering the various barriers to entry, including technical know-how and the price points of 3D printers – some of which can cost up to thousands of dollars.

Well, when it comes to the latter, it's a good thing that 3D printers are becoming more and more affordable, like the Elegoo Mars 2 Pro that's now going for a 20 percent discount on Amazon Singapore.

The Mars 2 Pro is a resin 3D printer with a small footprint (5.08 x 3.15 x 6.3 inches) that is purposed for printing smaller and more intricate pieces such as miniatures, replica jewellery, or small trinkets and accessories that demand a finer level of detail (less prominent layer lines).

For beginners or those looking for a device on a budget, the Mars 2 Pro comes with plenty of neat features that are pretty simple to use, such as a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen to interface with, a spring-loaded build platform that self-levels, and an included air filtration system.

There's also a toolkit that allows you to jump right into printing (provided you already have the required software and know-how, of course) which includes a scrapper to remove prints from the build plate, allen keys to level the build plate, replacement FEP sheets, and even a USB stick to load STL files onto.

There are even safety gloves and disposable face masks included to get you started, although you may want to upgrade to more hardy protection as you continue to use the printer.

When it comes to print quality, the Mars 2 Pro delivers by churning out resin models at pretty quick speeds while sacrificing very little in the way of details. If you're looking to get started with printing small miniatures and display figurines, you can't really go wrong with this particular machine.

The overall solid build quality of the Mars 2 Pro (there's plenty of metal used) combined with plenty of other nifty features make it a great bedroom 3D printer that you can use to learn and create your first 3D-printed pieces, and considering that it's also now going for a price of under S$300 (US$215), this one's pretty much a bargain.
