Samsung foldable phone sales, including the Galaxy Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3, have reached a whopping 10 million shipments last year or in 2021.

The South Korean tech giant blurted out these impressive foldable sales figures as it gears up to introduce its next-generation Z smartphone offerings, the Fold 4 and Flip 4.

The renowned phone maker is set to debut its newest foldable mobile devices in its upcoming Unpacked event this August 10.

As per a news story by Android Authority, Samsung shared the official sales numbers of its foldable phones, which include its current flagship offerings, the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3.

But the online news outlet notes that it could also include some older models of the Samsung Galaxy Z lineup. It is unfortunately unclear as the renowned phone maker failed to give specific sales figures for certain smartphones.

The South Korean tech giant boasted that it remains the undisputed leader in the market of foldable phones as it shares impressive shipment numbers. It comes despite similar offerings from other Chinese phone makers, namely Huawei and Oppo.

To be more precise, no less than the president of Samsung himself, TM Roh, reveals that the giant Android phone maker has sold roughly 10 million folding devices in the last year alone.

The official shipments of Samsung folding devices in 2021 get a staggering 300% increase from its sales performance in the past two years or in 2020.

Android Authority did the math, stating that the Galaxy Z series sales in 2021 surged by roughly 4 million from 2020, which only shipped around 6 million units.

According to a recent report by The Verge, the big boss of Samsung looked back at how Galaxy foldable started to be before reaching this massive milestone.

The tech exec reminisced the days when it first introduced the Galaxy foldable to the smartphone market. Roh says these folding phones were dubbed somewhat "radical" three years ago.

But the Samsung boss boasts that the "radical" foldable phone has swiftly become part of the norm. He further believes that the "flexible design fits perfectly into modern lifestyles."

And as such, Roh says that foldable phones that were previously seen as a novelty now sell millions of units, seemingly embraced by more and more each year.

In fact, Samsung notes that Flip phones got 70% of the total sales, whereas the Fold only shipped roughly 30%.
